In antiquity, the image of a snake eating its tail represented eternal return and the cyclicality of nature and the universe. It’s the alpha and omega, the beginning and the end. One is the all, and we’re all in the middle of something.
These days the serpent tail-eater is most often used to describe a self-propelled and vicious cycle, or eating your own shit. So, naturally, we put it around Oklahoma’s state flag. Then we put that design on a classic mesh-back trucker hat and embroidered it in Tulsa.
