Tires by Joe Andoe
These collages on paper play on familiar themes from Joe Andoe’s painterly practice. Superhighway, his 2015 exhibit, featured American landscapes, distinctly Oklahoman, abstracted afar from Google Maps Street View. His art often deals with objects in suspension, poised between our world and another. Andoe started this series while transitioning studios, combining old photos he took in Tulsa with Google images, collapsing Indian Territory with cut-out modernity. “These photos are generations away from the moment they were taken … It all marries back together.” They have never been exhibited.
